INTERNATIONAL GIRLS SKATE DAY
International Girls Skate Day is a movement for often disenfranchised skaters (girls/women/non-binary/non-dudes) to support one another by skating on the same day in solidarity, regardless of where they live/shred in the world!
past events
2019
In 2019, events took place in Boston and Worcester, MA (USA), Montpellier (France), and Kathmandu (Nepal).
Boston’s event included:
Free admissions by renting out a local park (Acorns)
Free lessons
Free skateboard rental
Free raffle (w/ boards and gear donated by OneGig)
A talk about the Neuroscience of Skateboarding given by one of our organizers in collaboration with the Cambridge Science Festival (CSF).
Science, like skateboarding, has a tendency to shut out women/girls, which is why we teamed up with CSF for Boston GSD! Our main goal is to build inclusive spaces where women/girls/non-binary people are able to explore interests more freely.
